Welcome to Zoetic’s Mindfulness Page. Zoetic is an in-person, Science based, Mindfulness center located 10 min away from Texas State University. An artful 2500sq ft lodge and vast 30 acre wild forest estate provide the setting for mindfulness education and inner exploration. We have a free weekly moving meditation class that we hope will inspire a deepening connection to Yourself, Nature, Art, and the world around you. Zoetic is an indoor/outdoor mindfulness immersion space, created to support people who are interested in turning inward and exploring what is possible when we join and focus our minds and bodies, using proven science based methods available to us at this point in our understanding of the world.

Humanity has so much information about how we can change the way our brains respond to stimuli, and therefore change the experience of our lives. Practicing Mindfulness in Nature has been shown to have more of an effect on the state of your health than some prescribed medications. The recent studies on the effects a weekly mindfulness practice can have on your brain are convincing, but finding out for yourself through experience is really the only way to know if mindfulness practice is something that would be of benefit to you. .

Through movement, breathing, meditation, and other mindful activities we aim to support people on the path of inner exploration through the Practice of mindfulness in art and nature, immersion activities, different modalities and styles of meditation, and transformative Retreat experiences.

Every moment is an opportunity to nurture a deep sense of connection with the world. You have the ability to transform every part of your life with mindfulness. All it takes is a little Practice.

PRACTICE

The hour you spend at Practice will touch every other hour of your week. That’s how important taking back your focus and your freedom to choose is. Many, many people find it hard to maintain a regular Focus Practice, meditation or movement practice. It’s infinitely easier with the support of a group, in a wonder filled nature setting. Our signature class, PRACTICE, is super humanly simple, but Incredibly Effective. The first part of the hour is mindful movement (think slow, easy, stretching), suitable for every body, then we transition to a breathing exercise (4-7-8 is popular around here, guided by drum), and we finish up the hour with a ten minute guided/silent meditation (body scan and then open focused meditation). This deceptively simple Practice, done on a semi regular basis has the potential to change your life in every way. You do the Practice, and the Practice will do the work. There are several opportunities every week to come to Practice. Sign up for a text reminder on the day of your choice & to receive the gate code the day of practice. If you prefer more individualized, accelerated learning we have Private Practice availability as well as a unique Partner Meditation Education Program designed for two people who seek to deepen their connection. Taking the time to Retreat, has never been as important as it is today in our age of constant distraction, where the prize everyone is fighting for is your attention. If you aren’t actively choosing where to rest your attention in the moment, someone else is doing the choosing for you. Our retreats will focus on learning to listen actively to your body in the moment, cultivating space from the stimuli of the outside world, habit change, and nurturing a deep connection with the love of your life, yourself. Support along the path of transformation can make all the difference. Zoetic is a source of support, a kind of self-knowledge college that aims to demonstrate that true freedom comes from regularly sharpening your most useful tool: your mind. Diving deeply into the meditative arts doesn’t have to be about sitting on the floor in stillness for hours. Our program is serious, but it’s also full of joy and Discovery. It’s not what you think.

If you prefer to receive private one on one instruction to familiarize yourself with meditation, or If you would like to Practice at Zoetic with a teacher to guide you in a more in depth way, please reach out to schedule a Private Practice. We will meet one on one to discuss expectations and anything else you may want to discuss on the topic of meditation and then practice together. After you are welcome to enjoy the animals, art, and nature for as long as you like.

At the beginning of the pandemic my husband and I embarked upon the adventure of practicing meditating together. I had 20 years experience practicing and teaching meditation, my husband had zero experience, and was highly skeptical. The results were undeniable and profound. If you and your partner can commit to sitting together 3 min a day together, the instructions for couples practice has the potential to expand your relationship, and eliminate co dependency. The experience of connecting on the level of consciousness with another human being will reveal wisdom is impossible to learn through just a solitary practice. There are some mysteries that can only be unlocked with another person. You may have already tried counseling, or reading relationship books, this is different. This is a new way of connection, Non Verbal, and it’s simple to learn.

Most Saturdays Zoetic hosts an evening HAPPENING

Workshops, Audio Visual presentations and speakers, Soundscapes, indoor documentaries in the movie room on a giant screen projector, or outdoor under the stars, Art Creation, Nature Immersion experiences, and other mindfulness based activities. Learning about mindfulness and meditation does not always have to be a silent & solitary process. We provide mystery, entertainment, drinks and snacks, surprise, mindful art games and activities, and sometimes group discussions, or animal encounters with tiny goats, giant bunnies, and wild chickens. We aim to inspire mindful moments within the framework of the Happenings, as a way to integrate your practice into your life, as well os for connection and support.

All of our Happenings and Practice classes are held on Zoetics vast, 30 acre, wild forest estate. Sometimes in the Lodge, sometimes outside in the forest, and sometimes in the heated pool!
